Favourite Choccy

Chocolate is king.

10

Flake

Is it just me or have flakes gone from store shelves? I only ever see them on 3 quid 99s these days. I loved opening these as a kid and getting chocolate everywhere, especially with that bright yellow wrapper that unfolded. Today’s flakes are too tidy!

9

Toffee Crisp

These used to be a lot nicer, and three times the size, but they’re still great. Chocolate, caramel and crispy bits. What more do you want?

8

Galaxy

This was my “go to” chocolate for most of my childhood. Dairy Milk was good, but Galaxy chocolate was always a tier above. I still get a bar or three from my Mum every Christmas.

7

Kitkat Chunky

I was never a bit fan of Kitkat, it was alright, but having people constantly ask WHY ARE YOU EATING IT LIKE THAT? As I eat horizontally instead of each individual line was driving me nuts. So, when Chunky came out, problem solved, and it tastes really good.

6

Crunchie

Who remembers the insane ads for Crunchie in the 90s? I’ve always had a soft spot for Crunchie, there’s not really any other choccy bar like it. We need more chocolate with honeycomb in it.

5

Crunch (White)

This was a total surprise when I first tasted it. I love white chocolate, but there’s not really any good brands of white chocolate out there. Add in biscuit, and you’ve got one of the best bars of chocolate ever. These are so good, but so hard to find anywhere.

4

Daim

I remember nearly breaking my teeth on these when they first came out. I say that, but looking at the history of these things they’ve been around forever? I remember seeing huge ad campaigns for them, then they were in the shops everywhere. Who knows. These days they’re a lot easier on the enamel, but they’re sometimes quite difficult to track down.

3

Tony Chocolonely Salted Caramel

I had never heard of Tony bars until I met my wife, she introduced me to them and oh boy, are they good. I tried a lot of different flavours, most are okay, but the salted caramel one is next level good. You’ll put on around 50 kilos eating one, but its worth it.

2

Dairy Milk Marvellous Creations Popping Candy

It was hard putting this at #2, it’s close! When I first saw this I thought it was the dumbest thing ever. I wasn’t a huge fan of Dairy Milk compared to Galaxy, but I eventually gave it a try. Somehow, it works, and I can’t count the amount of bars of these I’ve eaten in my life. I always sigh to myself when someone gets me one, because it’s usually when I’m trying to be “good” with food.

1

Maltesers

These have been consumed by the Link household since I was very little. I remember my Mum putting them in front of her teeth behind her gums when I was a child and it made me die of laughter. Heck, I even fed them to my cat who absolutely loved them (I now know as an adult that was very stupid, but thankfully she was okay).

If you buy me a bag of these, I’m eating them all, if you buy me one of those ridiculous boxes of them, I’m eating them all. I will feel like death, but that’s how much I like these. Also, shoutout to those Malteser bunnies around Easter, as well as that 10-15 quid massive Malteser eggs which have unfortunately shrunk in size considerably.

Fuck shrinkflation. Let me be fat.

Also, does anyone else try to bite the chocolate off the malt before eating? No? Just me?
