Saiyan Synthwave

Vision

I am a huge Dragon Ball fan and I’ve always wanted to do some form of AMV. I am also a huge fan of White Bat Audio and their incredible copyright free music, seriously, check them out and you’ll be extremely impressed with their work. Mixing these two was a no brainer and when the thought came to my mind, I had to do it.

The Cell Games (2025)

Cell vs Goku is easily one of my favourite scenes in all of Dragon Ball, and I figured I could mash together a lot of scenes that didn’t normally go together to make something intense and fast paced. I heavily utilized the scene where Goku instant transmissions to Cell to scout him out and made it part of the battle scene, mostly because the scene is incredibly detailed and cinematic.

Making the scenes match the music is so therapeutic. I absolutely loved putting this one together. It took me a little longer, while I learnt from the mistakes of the first one.

The Saiyans Arrive (2022)

The story of the Saiyans coming to Earth isn’t really spoken about much, but the suspense and dread that these two brought with them always fascinated me. As a kid I remember seeing these two flying closer and closer to Earth at the end of each episode, knowing full well that they completely outclassed Raditz, who even Goku couldn’t touch one on one months prior. The Z fighters knew Goku was unlikely to make it back in time and that they were likely about to lose both their lives and the planet.

The actual development of this only took a day or so, once I was in the zone I spent all of the day just trying to perfect it as best as I can and match up the scenes to the beats. Getting the content was a lot of fun, it involved re-watching a lot of the Saiyan Saga, which was easy, since I think it’s one of the most re-watchable series of all time, and that particular saga is 10/10.

The challenge itself was picking the right scenes and matching them up to the storyboarding. I knew I had four pieces of music I wanted to cover, which meant the video would be over 10 minutes long, and getting enough content for that was going to be tricky. I think I hit a fine balance between repetition and unique content, but you can be the judge! =)

I had a lot of fun making this! It’s very different to what I usually do, but that’s what I enjoy most! Trying out new stuff =) Enjoy!

Music

The Cell Games (2025)

  • The Guardian – White Bat Audio – High bass intense beats, the perfect introduction to Goku and Cell before their fight begins.
  • Eaters of the Dead – White Bat Audio –  Really intense badass music that is perfect for fight scenes. I had to chop this one up a lot to make it fit. Really good sections in the music for staredowns/change in pace.
  • Katana – White Bat Audio – Really good combination of The Guardian and Easters of the Dead, perfect for setting up the finale of the fight.

The Saiyans Arrive (2022)

  • Kill Crew – White Bat Audio – The chaos had to begin somewhere, and this felt perfect for the beginning of their journey. The heavy hitting bass really lines up well with the other tracks below.
  • Terminator VS RoboCop – White Bat Audio –  Completely badass, and it fit in perfectly for the Saiyans arrival on the first planet on their journey. Starts off intense, slows down then REALLY picks up speed. I absolutely love the sound effects in the background, I made a great effort to match them up to the Saiyan pods traveling through the evening sun =)
  • New Beginnings – White Bat Audio – This was the music that made me think of the idea in the first place. This, at least in my opinion, really captures the impending doom and atmosphere of traveling through space.
  • Poison Tooth – White Bat Audio – Quite possibly my favourite track from White Bat Audio, the bass is absolutely intense and it really captured the moment Nappa destroyed the city so well, especially with the glitchy other worldly background noises.
