Arcadia

Vision

Arcadia.gg (I no longer own this domain) was a project created with the ambition to bring communities together and form new ones in a game called Jedi Academy. The main selling point was its ability to create advertisement space for communities so when they were large enough (After using our resources) they could go on to do their own thing without the worry of whether they’re wasting time/money at such an early stage. The idea proved successful, and evolved into its own community with lots of nice features. I decided to shelve the project after the initial buzz started to die down, ending on as big of a high as possible so I could focus on other projects.

Development

Logos

Usually logos are quite easy for me to visualize, but with Arcadia I struggled quite a bit with what to do. One of my friends Bruce, gave me a demo font to look at called “Another Danger”, and while all together “ARCADIA” didn’t look great, I loved the “A” and decided to combine it with a standard font that was very readable. I settled on Yu Gothic, and used the Jedi Academy logo as a replacement for the “I”.

Website

The website, much like ArtPrism, was built on Invision. I spent most of my time on the website creating the databases of communities, servers, events and training information. I quickly became aware that forums are no longer a viable solution for communication, as most gaming communities were moving to Discord.

Interview

One of my proudest moments with Arcadia was putting together a podcast with my friend Bruce, we interviewed one of the more known faces around the community called Shake. We spent a significant amount of time planning this and putting it into a format which was digestible to those interested.
