Early Days Child Care

Vision

The customer from Early Days Child Care approached me and requested that I develop a new website, logo and branding for their documentation.

The following requirements needed to be met for the website:

  • Mobile friendly
  • CEOP Report button on every page
  • An embedded Twitter feed on the front page
  • News to be automatically posted on Twitter when posted
  • A easy to use downloads section
  • Search function for the website
  • Multiple levels of user access and restrictions on who can edit what pages
  • Analytics for monitoring visitors
  • A contact form as an alternative to direct emailing

Development

Website

My aim with this design was to simply modernise the look of the old website, so I chose a colour palette which was similar. The customer requested that I include a sidebar on all the pages/news articles so that they could keep their news & twitter feed in the eye of the visitor at all times. The website, when compacted down, reverts to the mobile version of the website meaning that no extra plugins or code were needed to redirect the user to a mobile version of the website, it does it automatically instead via the stylesheet.

The finished website is no longer up, however here is a screenshot of the completed website from 2015

Logo

The logo was originally created by a pupil of Early Days and so the customer requested that I keep their original design in tact. With this in mind, I started drawing out the design by the child which turned out to be two Heptagrams overlapping each other. I purposely offset the Heptagrams to keep the design of a similar theme to the original. The only difference in the design itself is the fact that I had to flip it horizontally to make it fit better with the website design.
