Colours

Everyone has a favourite colour.

Mine has changed over the years between green, pink and blue. It's usually been a result of changing factors in my environment such as loving green at an early age because of the Green Ranger from Power Rangers, it just seemed like such a cool and powerful colour.

There was a time where I thought red was my favourite colour. I got myself a red phone case, wallet etc and then a couple months later I thought to myself: Why did I buy this? I'm not a big fan of red?". It's weird how not only our taste in colours change, but also our tastes in general. Another example, I can go an entire year without drawing a thing but then at random I have this urge which I can't ignore which nudges me to draw something.

Whenever I'm out and about, I'll often see some really cool artwork or even basic graffiti tags using a cool colour combination. I always take photos of these things so I can use it as inspiration in something arty later down the line.

A collection of photos I've taken of different colourful things, for use in arty ideas later down the line.

Anyway, let's get onto some of my favourite colours!

Butterfly Green

#126761

My first ever favourite colour was inspired by non other than the Green Ranger from Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. It wasn't nessesarily this shade of green, but this was 100% the reason for me having my favourite colour as "Green" whenever people asked. How could you not love green after seeing MMPR? He was so cool!

Teal

#008080

Technically Teal is right between green and blue, it can't actually be categorized as either which is a cool little fact I didn't know until writing this, but we'll put it in blue. The reason I love this colour is because it's used on a lot of old "old tech" such as Windows 95/98. It's so iconic.

Sage Grey

#a7afa7

This colour is from the DeviantART website in the mid 2000s. Something about its colour scheme was so well done. Greens like this were the range back then, in fact, most "cool" websites used green a lot from what I recall.

💖 Starfleet Blue

#0096ff

This is the first of the three colours I use on my website "branding". I absolutely love this blue, it's my #1 favourite colour. Blue in general has been my favourite colour most of my life to be fair, with pink being a close second. I've used this colour on a lot of my websites and art.

Minty Paradise

#00ffc0

This is the second of the three colours I use on my website "branding". It's such a strong colour and is my current favourite version of green. I use it a lot in my board game GRAVITACT (I really need to release this!).

Raspberry

#d52961

This is the third and last of the three colours I use on my website "branding". I really adore this colour, every time I look at it, it reminds me of a ruby even though it's way off. I remember experimenting with different shades of pink and I really found a nice sweet spot between red and magenta, I use/used it in a lot of my artwork.

I even made a website design based on this idea, which I actually still really like.

Hawaii Morning

#00aeff

I keep going back and forth between Starfleet Blue and Hawaii Morning (I don't name these things LOL) to the point where I just interchange them with whatever works on whatever I'm doing.

I think it's because both colours in some way represent the sky, and I've always loved just staring at it.

Ice Blue

#dbedf5

This was my former favourite colour and shade of blue, again, I used it on my old sites and some art work. I used to refer to it as "baby blue" but apparently it's closer to "Ice Blue". I still really like it, but I really don't use it at all anymore.

First version of this website, and very colourful. Using "Ice Blue" as the header.

Silver

#C0C0C0

Much like teal, this grey (Apparently called Silver?) is iconic, and it hits me with nostalgia every time I see it.

Charcoal

#252525

I've experimented with a lot of "nearly black" colours over the years and this is the one that's stuck around the longest, I really love how it brings out white text.

Golden Yellow

#FFDE00

I really need to use this more, I was going to use it for v1 of this website but ended up going with that Ice Blue colour above and in a different direction. I remember doing this after reading a few books on bees, you can see the inspiration I'm sure.

I love combining black with yellow, it's really striking.
